As part of the Vaduz Classic festival, alumni and scholarship holders from the Academy of Music in Liechtenstein recently took up residence in the Hagenhaus to rehearse for the upcoming family concert of Camille Saint-Saëns' “Carnival of the Animals”.

Initial feedback on the rehearsals was consistently positive: the musicians praised the outstanding acoustics of the concert hall, which brought out the full splendour of the ensemble's sound. CD recording in the Hagenhaus

Between August 1st and 10th, four CD recordings took place at the Hagenhaus for the world's largest classical music label, NAXOS.

The selected scholarship holders and alumni of the academy, Roman Fediurko, Levon Avagyan, Dmytro Semykras and Vladimir Aćimović, presented their impressive skills in the ‘Romantic Piano Series’. The varied programme ranged from Theodor Kullak's virtuoso piano compositions to Friedrich Robert Volkmann's poetic fantasy pictures and Felix Draeseke's powerful fantasy pieces to Josef Gabriel Rheinberger's masterful sonatas, offering a deep insight into the diversity of Romantic piano music.

The Hagen House in Nendeln opens its doors

On tomorrow's Europe Day of Monuments, the Hagen House in Nendeln will be open to the public. The house is currently being renovated.

The preservation of the building is important, explains Patrik Birrer, Head of the Office for Culture: "On the one hand, it is a very large building, consisting of a semi-detached house, a stable and a wash house. It represents an object that was actually built at a time that was characterized by poverty. There was also a ban at the time. You weren't actually allowed to build anything. The house marks a turning point. It was one of the first apartment buildings in the country. It follows a completely different building tradition to what we have known up to now."
